Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh 25th Anniversary Timeline Video
To this day, this was the most ambitious project I’ve worked on and it was an honor to put this together for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh’s 25th Anniversary Gala.
Over the course of 7 months, I worked with the lovely Aria Valdez and Heidi Johnson to somehow tell HFHGN’s 25 year long story in under 10 minutes. We began by drawing out a timeline of all the significant events/achievements that happened over the course of their 25 years and there were many, too many. From there, we categorized these moments into sections that would be easy to understand as a viewer at the Gala.
Once we had our timeline and narrative in place, we spent the next several months shooting interviews with people who would all provide unique perspectives on the story. From the founders Bill and Mary Murphy to a Habitat homeowner named Luis, we wanted to have the story feel as well rounded as possible to mirror the profound impact Habitat has on the community.
After a hectic 2 weeks of editing, it was ready to be presented at the Gala. I don’t think I’ve ever been more nervous in my life as Bill took the stage and announced all the prominent figures of Newburgh in attendance. Nonetheless, the screening began and my heart relaxed as the audience laughed at the comedic beats. By the end, the applause was uproarious and I couldn’t have been more thankful.
Thank you to everyone who made this video possible and if you have the ability, please go and support Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh.
